Daniel L. Hall, Ph.D.
Picture
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and researcher working in Boston, MA.

I conduct research on evidence-based and empirically-supported therapies and practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness meditation, and the relaxation response. Most of this work is with adults who are coping with illness (e.g., cancer) and/or seeking to change health behaviors (e.g., reduce insomnia).

I work with research and clinical teams in:
  • MGH Behavioral Medicine Program
  • MGH Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine
  • MGH Cancer Center
  • MGH Mongan Institute Health Policy Research Center
  • BIDMC Division of General Medicine
  • BIDMC Cancer Center

I have been a staff psychologist in the MGH Department of Psychiatry and an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School since 2019.  Before joining the faculty, I completed a 3-year, NIH-funded T32 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at HMS, as well as Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Clinical Fellowships in MGH Psychiatry's Behavioral Medicine Program.

In 2016, I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (health concentration) from the University of Miami. That summer, I also completed the Program in Clinical Effectiveness at the T.H. Chan Harvard School of Public Health.

In 2009, I graduated with Highest Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
as a Robertson Scholar , majoring in Psychology and minoring in Social and Economic Justice.

My sources of joy include live music, travel, and spending time with friends and family -- during the COVID-19 pandemic, doing each of these has required a lot of creativity!
